For a Special Girl -- CTD # 244 -- Lori Boyd

I have been away from my blog all week which is very unlike me!!
Unfortunately, a few really bad migraines were the culprit!
Hopefully, they won't return and I can finish out the week with a few new cards.
I LOVE the color throwdown and when I saw the colors and inspiration pic
on Wednesday, I was thrilled with Lynn's bright colors!
I also wanted to play along with the Lori Boyd challenge and the theme was flowers.
BRIGHT & HAPPY cards make me smile so that is exactly what I wanted to make!
Here's my take on the color throwdown colors for this week with a Lori Boyd image.
I also used a bunch of different flower dies and punches,
so I am linking up with That Craft Place & Crafty Calendar.

This card is for my younger daughter for after her dance recital that is coming up next Friday!!
Her favorite colors are all different shades of blue, so I dressed her
in tempting turquoise with her favorite ombré barrettes.

FYI for the throwdown gals ~~~ there is a pretty gray ribbon under the flowers, but you can't really see it!!  :) :) :)  I did use the grey in a few places: as the shadow beneath her, in the sentiment, and the mostly hidden ribbon.  ;) ;) ;)

I wanted to add a little bit of depth with the flowers so I used foam circles.  The tempting turquoise die cut flowers are flush with the ribbon, the yellow ones are popped up on 1 level of dimensional foam and the hot pink flower is popped up on 2 layers of foam.

Here's a close up of "Ella #3" by Lori Boyd designs
You can find the cuteness right HERE.

Stamps: digi by Lori Boyd (Ella #3)
Sentiment by Jaded Blossom
Flower stamps & dies: Taylored Expressions and SU!
Card stock: Tempting Turquoise & Smoky Slate(SU!)
Pink by recollections
Ink: Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Smoky Slate (SU!)
Razzle Berry by MFT (stamped off to lighten it)
Pearls & ribbon: Michael's
(If you would like the copic #s, just let me know
in the comments, I do keep a list from each card.)

Thanks for looking and leaving a comment.
It brightens my day!!

fairy happy day -- BLOG CANDY TIME!!!

Hi there!
Hope everyone had a fabulous Memorial Day weekend!
I wanted to do something fun for the next 2 weeks, so I am offering some BLOG CANDY to one lucky winner who is following my blog with Google &/or Bloglovin'.
You need to be a follower and leave a comment on this post to be eligible to win:
a voucher for 3 digi stamps from Tiddly Inks of your choice.
I would love for you to tell others about the blog candy.  :) :) :)
I will be doing all different kinds of blog candy for the next 10 Weeks so you will want to stay tuned to see what is coming next!!!
Thank you so much for helping me get the word out!!
**I promise to make it FUN w/prizes from all different companies!**

My card for today features a brand new Wryn fairy from Tiddly Inks called, Fairy Happy Day.
She is here in the garden and I went with bright colors, of course!!
If you are new to my blog, I'm absolutely head over heels for turquoise, aqua, teal, and lime!
(Oh, and coral, too!!   Can't forget coral!!)
I used my copics to color her and added shading with chalks.  I used a spellbinder die to cut out the garden, a YNS die for the butterflies, & a die from a-muse studio for the sentiment.
I kept my card really simple because the image is so large and I wanted a big impact!
Are you wearing your sunglasses??!   LOL   :) :) :)
This bright fun paper is from Doodlebug Designs flower box 6x6 stack
and the card stock is Lagoon by CTMH.  I used glitter pen on her wings and the wings of the butterflies for some added sparkle.  I LOVE sparkle and bling, but my camera does not... so I don't always add as much glitter and shine to my cards as I would like.
The sentiment is from MFT and was stamped with soft suede ink by SU!
Here is a close-up ~~ if you click the pic, you can see it even larger.

I'm entering this card into:
That Craft Place ~~Dies & punches

Thanks for looking and helping me get the word out!
I love to follow other craft blogs, so feel free to put a link in your comment if you'd like me to follow your blog back!   :) :) :)

Have a Fairy Sweet Day -- Colour Q # 190 & Tiddly # 110

Hi there!
When I saw this week's Colour Q inspiration pic I immediately thought of this autumn fairy costume that I had one year for Halloween.  The pics online were detailed and luxurious and I couldn't wait to get it!  When it arrived, it was the exact opposite of what I had envisioned!  Needless to say, I didn't wear the autumn fairy costume that year!   I wanted to create a card that captured an autumn fairy and so I used this super sweet digi of Wryn Fairy Wishes.

Hope you like my take on the colors and the concept:
This card took me the longest that I have ever spent on a card.  It took me hours to color it and I will explain why...  I didn't have the exact colors for Colour Q in my copics, so I tried a different technique altogether.   I used Stampin Up blender pens and my Stampin Up ink pads to deliver the color.   It was a GREAT plan when you don't have a specific color!  The only trouble is that it took me sooooooo long!  This card is for a very special person who I hope has a "FAIRY SWEET DAY" when she receives it!!  It was worth the extra time spent to get it just right!!

I used the Baja Breeze color for her dress and shoes, I used Midnight Muse for the shadowing on the first layer of the dress and a combo of the 2 colors for the second layer of the dress.
For her hair, I colored it with a Y21 copic and then I colored it with More Mustard and Really Rust in the darkest parts using Stampin' up blender pens.

The flowers were pale pink Martha Stewart flowers and I needed to color them as well.
Here's where I had to put my color skills to the test!
When you add pink to something it changes the shade and tone, so I needed to go with colors that would end up looking like baja breeze, more mustard, & really rust.
I used daffodil delight and it ended up like mustard!
I used pool party and bashful blue and it ended up like baja breeze and luckily for the really rust, I only had to color it with more mustard and it turned perfectly into rust!
Whew!!!  So, like I said, this card was the longest 2 day crafty project EVER!!!

Here's a few pics of the coloring in action...
On this pic you can see where I added the diff shades of blue -- pool party and bashful blue.
The other flower was also pink and I added mustard over it to create rust.  They were really dark when wet so I was a bit worried...

But, when they were dry they came out just like Stampin' Up colors --- YAY!!!!!   :) :) :)
It was a TON of work, but in the end it was FUN!!

Here's a detailed close up of Wryn without the flash so you can see the coloring.
Click on it for a larger version...  :) :) :)

My card was a labor of love for sure!!
I'm entering this card into the Tiddly Inks Challenge # 110 -- "Use a Wryn"

Thanks for a great year -- MFTWSC125 --Lawn Fawn Chall # 58

Hi there!
My daughter came home from school on Monday and asked if I could "draw" her.  I told her that I don't really draw, but I can find an image that looks like you and I can color it like you!
So, here's my older daughter as a digi complete with her "Arrietty buns."  (Arrietty is from the Borrowers movie and my daughter loves that fun hair!  Kind of like Princess Leia for those of us who are a wee bit older!!  :) :) :)  Ok, I am 36, but who's counting!??!
This card is going to be for her teacher on the last day of school.  (Only 9 more days!!!)

My happy healthy mojo is back, which is much appreciated!
I finally feel like myself again!!  Woo hoo!!!
Two cards finished today which means I get to start something NEW!

Here's the first one for the There She Goes "Moving On" challenge and I used a
sketch by Amy from Freshly Made Sketches.   It's for challenge #86.

This card is for my daughter who is "moving on" in school.  She will be leaving kindergarten and going into the "big" grades like her sister!  She is so excited to have SPELLING next year!  Her FAVE subject!  (It was mine, too!!)  On this card she is depicted at recess in the Carolina red clay which she brought home from school for the first week or so until she learned that I do NOT LIKE red clay in my car or house!  She now plays on the blacktop!  ;) ;) ;)

Here's the sketch

just for you -- CQC 188, SSSC184, & Case Study 140

Hi there!!
Hope you enjoyed Mother's Day weekend!
Mine was fabulous and I got a lot done!!
Here is a new card created with sketch SSSC184 for the ColourQ challenge this week
 and CASEstudy #140.
This card is for my daughter's upcoming dance recital.
Here is the color palette for this week:

I used Calypso Coral card stock for all my layers and Calypso Coral ink for the sentiment.
The green was the trickiest for me as I didn't have a copic that was gray enough to the sage.  I had to use different shades of gray that I did have to blend into my greens.

This week @ CASE study the inspiration is floral.
Hope you enjoyed my card!

Here's what I used for today's card:
Stamp:  Flower Bouquet Fhiona by YNS
Card stock, ink, and button: Calypso Coral by SU!
Paper: My Mind's Eye "In Bloom"
Dies: Ric Rac borders from Taylored Expressions
Banner bundle die set by Verve
Jute from Michael's
E00, E11, R30,
YG11, W3

let's play -- the sweetest thing 184

Hi there!
When I saw today's sketch from Karen @ the sweetest thing I was soooooo excited because I knew that I would be able to use a LOT of patterned paper!  Woo hoo!!  Sometimes a sketch can be fun, but you don't get to see much of the fun papers, so I really loved this one!
Also, I would finally be able to use my ric rac border die from Taylored Expressions!
I knew that I wanted to use it for the line between the 2 triangles,
so now I just needed to decide on the papers and the image.
This past week when I colored the paper smooches dog from Woofers & Tweeters, it brought back a lof of memories of my mini daschund.  He was only 9 pounds so when he played in the flowers I couldn't even see him!  That's the inspiration for today's card.

I even put the sentiment in the patterned paper...
Rookie mistake?
Well... I did it on purpose... my dog used to coax me to play by crouching and hiding in the flowers, so this worked for me as the dog and the words are hiding in the flowers.
I paper pieced this portly little pup and shaded with copics.

I REALLY LOVED this sketch and I am working on at least 1 more, if not 2 more with this same sketch for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch #184.

Mother's Day was AWESOME!!  My family gave me a marker holder for my new copics, a few new die-namics, and some organizational cubes for my stamping room.  My hubby took my kids to an amusement park for a few hours so that I could organize my stamps and create a few cards!
This one is finished and 2 more are in progress on my stamping desk.

Here's what I used today:
Stamp: paper smooches chubby chums
Paper: My Mind's Eye "Notable"
Die: Ric Rac borders from Taylored Expressions
Ink and card stock: Island Indigo by SU!
Button: Calypso Coral by SU!
Hemp cord: Bead landing
Copics: Y26 & Y38

Hope you had a WONDERFUL Mother's Day!!

I dig you -- Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge # 183

Happy Friday!!
I found myself in an unlikely situation yesterday... & I needed a boy card.
I was concerned because I don't ever buy images with boys on them, so I turned to my paper smooches stash and looked through the CUTEST animals on the market today!
The Chubby Chums are my laugh out loud favorites, but the dogs & birds from the brand new Woofers & Tweeters are soooooooo adorable bringing an instant smile to my face.
(Plus they have dies to match... MY FAVE THING EVER!!!)
It's my humble opinion that every stamp should have a matching die to go with it!

Here's what I came up with:
"I dig you"
Hee hee!  He even has a "wet" nose!  LOL
Whattaya have never seen a teal spotted dog before?
I had a double dappled mini dachshund before I got married and he had many different colored spots.
Teal, no, but I was using my imagination with this one!!  ;)
He is digging through his pile of pool party, mermaid, and island indigo
bones & that just makes me smile!
I hope you like my first attempt @ a boy card!
I popped him up on dimensional dots, but you can't really tell in the pics...

I am linking up with Karen @ the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge for # 183 with this fun sketch.
The only element that I left off was the scalloped edge because this card was for a boy.

Copics used:
BG18, BG57, C3, N5, 100 & G02
Paper: Echo Park "Happy Days"
Card stock: Island Indigo (SU!) & Red Hot (MFT)
Inks: Pool Party (SU!), Mermaid (a-muse studio), & Island Indigo (SU!)
Stamps & Dies:  Paper Smooches "Woofers and Tweeters"
"Woofers" & "Woofers Extras" are all found right HERE :) :) :)

Thanks for looking

Sweet Hello -- MFTWSC123 --Tasty Tuesday@YNS

Hi there, crafty peeps!
Today's card is based on a sketch from the Wednesday Stamp Club @MFT.
I also used the inspiration photo from YNS for Tasty Tuesday.
2 fun challenges, 1 super sweet image!

I had to modify the flag on the sketch so that it didn't cover too much of the garden and I made flowers instead of using buttons.  I used 2 different dies and some pearls for dimension.
Here is a close-up of the little cutie!

Here are the materials from today's card:
Stamp: Ellie Loves to Garden from YNS
Sentiment from: Ellie Loves Lattes from YNS
Card stock: Lagoon (CTMH)
Ink: Lagoon (CTMH)

Prima chalk edger: Teal Damask
Spellbinders: Floral Doily Motifs
Doodlebug Mini pearls: Bumblebee
3D Dots dimensionals: EK Tools
Paper: Echo Park "Happy Together"
& My Mind's Eye Collectable "Unforgettable"

Stamping w/ my 7 year old -- Mother's Day fun

At our house everyone has to get crafty!
I even have the hubby help out once in a while!
My 7 year old and I decided to make a card based off of the gift card
that we are sending to my mom for Mother's Day.
Before anyone says that I was a lazy daughter for going the gift card route,
please note that my mom ALWAYS asks for a gift card...Always!  LOL

*****ETA(edited to add) I am linking up with Moxie Fab World challenge for this week because they are featuring gift card holders!!!  MY FAVE kind of fun paper project!!!  LOVE it!!!******

We used the gift card as inspiration for our card.

My mom does not like pastels or soft girly colors, so this color combo had some WOW factor!
We used the LJD Sweet Roses stamps & matching die-namics from My Favorite Things w/red hot card stock and wild cherry ink both from MFT.  For the yellow centers of the flowers we used the smallest circle die from circle stax 2 by MFT with some daffodil delight card stock (SU!).  The letters are thickers that I had from a previous project and were ready to go.  My daughter was able to just stick them down which made it super easy and super fast!

On the inside of the card we used the gift card holder die from a-muse studio to create a little cut out where we could put the gift card.  She just LOVES rolling things through the big shot!!
The whole project came together very quickly reminding me once again that you can craft w/ kids very easily as long as you have most things measured and ready to go!
(as you know... kids don't really like to wait!)

INSIDE of card:

I hope that you are inspired to craft with one of your kids/grandkids

The belly band slides off and the inside "pops up"!

Mini Treat Basket -- Teacher Appreciation Part 3

Hi there!
As promised, I am back with more teacher appreciation goodies and ideas!
Here is a mini treat basket that I filled w/Hershey's kisses for a sweet treat & a gift card to Michael's.
My girls are going to deliver these to their teachers tomorrow for Teacher Appreciation Day!
As I mentioned in an earlier post, it is an all week long celebration at our school,
so I have prepared little treats and gifts for each day leading up to Friday.

*****ETA(edited to add) I am linking up with Moxie Fab World challenge for this week because they are featuring gift card holders!!!  MY FAVE kind of fun paper project!!!  LOVE it!!!******

This basket has some great embossing & you can see a little bit of it in this pic.
Sadly, the pic doesn't do it justice and it looks like a real basket which is so fun!!
It holds a gift card perfectly which is tucked down in the tissue and candy.

I used some candy stamps from Jaded Blossom:
and then used a 7/8 scalloped punch from Stampin' Up
to punch them out to stick them to the bottom of the Hershey kisses
w/my scotch tape runner

The inks I used are from Stampin' Up:
Tempting Turquoise & Lucky Limeade
(Some of my FAVE colors!!)

I hope you liked my mini treat basket project!
I am linking up to this challenge @ Jaded Blossom
Don't forget to leave me a comment if you have a chance!
It's a joy to read them!

Products that I used for today's project:
Woven Treat Basket die-namics by My Favorite Things
Candy Stamps by Jaded Blossom
DCWV Summer Garden from Michael's
Natural jute from Michael's
Tissue from Michael's
Gift card from Michael's
Inks from Stampin' Up

Feel Better Soon -- Pop-up Gift Card Holder

Hi there!
I wanted to share an idea on how you can jazz up the typical gift card.
Here is a pop-up gift card holder that I made for a friend who had a recent brain surgery.
I couldn't bring her a meal because she lives too far away, so I sent this Panera gift card instead.

*****ETA(edited to add) I am linking up with Moxie Fab World challenge for this week because they are featuring gift card holders!!!  MY FAVE kind of fun paper project!!!  LOVE it!!!******

The gift card holder has a cute belly band to hold it closed that you can embellish w/whatever you'd like.  I chose to use some punches, patterned paper, ribbon, and a button.

I got the idea for this gift card holder from this tutorial:
All of the measurements and details are on the video, so please do check it out!
It's a good one!!

I'm going to make a few of these w/ a coffee theme for the ladies @ school for teacher appreciation week.  I'll post pics tomorrow when they are done.  :) :) :)

Here are the stamps that I used:

Paper Smooches: Healthy Vibes stamp set  (the bandaid & the phrase)
Scrappy Moms Stamps: Dancing in Circles 1 (the round sentiment)

All of the patterned paper, card stock, ribbon, button, and ink are from Stampin' Up with the exception of the light orange stripe inside of the gift card holder which is from DCWV.

Hope this helps inspire you to add a little pizazz to your gift card giving!!

I am entering this pop-up gift card holder into the
Paper Smooches Sparks Anything Goes challenge for this week because
anything goes is time for some FUN!!

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!
They make my day sweet & sunny!!
